A man wanted for questioning following the death of a 22-year-old woman on the 210 Freeway this week has surrender.
Police say 26-year-old Rick Jimenez turned himself into the Glendale Police Department on Saturday morning, a day after police announced that he was a “person of interest” in connection
with Marie “Josie” Jimenez’s death.
The young woman was a passenger in her red Toyota Corolla on the eastbound lanes of the freeway about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when police say she inexplicably tumbled onto the busy roadway and was fatally struck by oncoming traffic.
Police suspect that the man driving the victim’s car at the time was her boyfriend, Ricardo “Rick” Jimenez. Police said that while they have not yet located Josie’s vehicle, Rick’s Honda Civic was impounded.
Prior to the incident, the pair spent the evening at a Sylmar tattoo parlor where witnesses say he was emotionally berating the young woman, according to police.
Authorities also said the woman was legally married to another man but did not suspect her husband, who was estranged from her, of any involvement in her death.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Detective Gretchen Schultz, Mission Homicide Unit, at (818) 838-9951.
