Hi its Kikuchi, the volunterly stuff.
I’m in the Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia at the moment. Came to see how people lead their life after Tsunami, actually 1 year after Tsunami.
You may think that Aceh is really a dangerous place, however, it is safe inspite of the image I have had in Japan.
Ironicaly thanks to Tsunami, the horrible conflict in Aceh seems to be settled down at the moment and people in Aceh appreciate this peaceful life from the bottom of their hart, however short it may be.
People laugh a lot as if to escape from the terrible reality facing the death all the time. Losing their father, children, mother…still they laugh.
Their strength tells me the importance of the environmental film festival.
I want to share thier strength to many people and keep shooting now in Aceh.
Those pictures could be the basis of some documentary film. And our festival could be the place to show it.
I guess many directors have the similar feeling that I now have in Aceh and keep making films. Making the place to share those feelings is the meaning of this festival.
Hoping to see another reality in the world in the EARTH VISION 14th environmental film festival.
And Best Wishes for all those who is involved in the festival!!
